Estancia Los Frailes is a breathtaking 6200 sq. foot home in the contemporary Mexican style made famous by architects like Luis Barragan and Ricardo Legoretta. Situated beachfront in the East Cape, it is unlike any other home within 50 miles. The entry approach is circular with a massive design element creating drama for a memorable entry, and once inside glowing walls of backlit tangerine onyx frame the interior pool with onyx firepit in the foyer. A network of interior ponds punctuated by boulders adds drama to the greatroom, which features 10 foot tall pocket doors and an 18 foot cedar beam ceiling with skylight. Skylights also are used over hallways, which terminate in brightly colored indoor rock garden niches with skylights overhead. All carpentry is Mexican Red Cedar, and the flooring is 32 X 32 inch special select travertine. With 4 bedrooms, all with beach views and indoor/outdoor showers, each finished in a different color granite or marble, the home affords a dramatic statement on arguably the most beautiful beach in Baja. The two kitchens, three car garage and ocean view casita also set the home apart from anything else in the East Cape. Extensive use of white cantera on interior walls, doorways, and exterior decks accentuate the asian lines, and the hotel-sized ying/yang pool with swim up bar and jacuzzi make the home an incredible destination. Off the grid, it is entirely powered by solar, with a backup generator for emergencies. Details like Onyx exterior sconces, sun patios for all bedrooms, three level spa/pool, sliced brick roof, etc. make this a one-of-a-kind home in a gorgeous location. Our design vision was to create something utterly unlike anything else in the region, and the overwhelming sentiment of client and BuildCabo alike is, “Mission Accomplished!”
